Table Tennis England - Pride of Table Tennis Awards 2022
We are delighted that Nicholas Walker, has been awarded the Young Male Volunteer of the Year (Southern Region) by Table Tennis England (TTE) in their Pride of Table Tennis Awards for 2022.
Nick has been supporting Shutford Table Tennis Club since our re-launch in Summer of 2021, and through the TTE Young Ambassador scheme has successfully achieved his UKCC Level 1 coaching qualification, under the mentorship of Banbury coach, Eric Barlow. He volunteers with us, coaching both Juniors and Adults on Tuesday evenings. Everyone involved in the club is immensely proud of Nick's achievements and this well-deserved award, and very grateful for the time he gives to us.
Alan Lane from TTE visited the club on Tuesday 28th February to break the surprise news. Nick formally received his award at the Pride of Table Tennis Presentations in Nottingham on 26th March 2023, where it was announced that he came second overall as national Pride of Table Tennis Young Male Volunteer of the Year!
Well done Nick!

Shutford Bookworms
You may be aware that Shutford has had a thriving book club for some time, but they are currently full and unable to add new members. See their book reviews here.
Having put a call out to get expressions of interest and see if we can get a second club up and running, we had the first meeting of the Shutford Bookworms at the end of January 2023. The group will be meeting once every 4-6 weeks taking turns to host in our homes - so numbers will need to be limited, but we could squeeze a couple more in. If you are interested, please drop an email to shutfordwebsite@gmail.com |

Summer photos around Shutford are needed for our 2024 Shutford calendar.

Let’s do what we can to keep Shutford beautiful, green, and safe for all of us, including animals and wildlife.
Thanks very much to everyone, young and old, for helping to pick litter on Sunday 2 April, and to Bill for collecting large items in his Land Rover.
We collected a lot, but sadly littering seems to be a permanent issue.
Think about taking a bin bag with you when you are out walking so that we can try to keep litter under control.
Fly tipping can be reported to Cherwell Fly Tipping.
Polite reminder for dog owners
There have been various complaints about the behaviour of dogs, and their owners, so please:
- Always keep your dogs under control, and particularly so when lambs are in fields. Put your dog on a lead if you can’t control it. Pick up your dog poo and put in the dog poo bins. There are poo bags available in various locations, please use these if needed, but don’t take them all!
