Shutford Table Tennis Club

Picture
Table tennis on Tuesdays in the village hall - fun and coaching for all abilities. Juniors 6.00 - 7.30pm and Adults 7.30 - 9.00pm.

Since it was relaunched last summer, the village’s table tennis club now regularly has more than 14 active members. The success is undoubtedly down to the hard work of two local coaches, Eric Barlow and Nick Walker, who have enthusiastically supported the club since October 2021. The evenings have followed a structured, fun-filled format with tailored coaching. Improvements in everyone’s game are now clearly visible!

Our success has meant that we can now offer a new weekly junior club starting on Tuesday 1 February. The weekly Junior sessions will follow the same structured format and include coaching for players up to the age of 16.

All abilities are welcome, including beginners, to both adult and junior sessions. All equipment is provided - all you need is a good pair of trainers and the willingness to give it a go. We now have three tables.

If you'd like to join in, please contact John on:
jfbailey001@gmail.com
We will be offering free sessions to Juniors for year.

Afterwards, membership will be charged at only £1 per week (payable upfront).

All change for the Shutford Book Club

We've decided that as we can't expand the group (and we hate saying 'no'), we are going to change our format to the Shutford Book Review.  We will instead provide reports on the books we read each month to inspire anyone looking for a good read.  Keep an eye out for the books we will read each month and our summaries will appear in the each edition of Shutford News.

This month we are reading two books :

Yoga classes

Ren Katz is back from bonny Scotland and very happy to be teaching yoga in England again!
~
Currently I am teaching in Shutford on Monday mornings from
9-10am. Come along and join us!
It is a wonderful way to start the week.
~
I have been practicing yoga for over 35 years and teaching for the last 7 years. My main focus is on body mechanics, women’s health and athletes. Many golfers have found the benefits of doing a yoga class on their handicaps.
~
Yoga is wonderful for everyone.
It can help build strength and flexibility in the stiffest and most stubborn of bodies.
You will be amazed at what you can do!

Come along and let’s bend. Find out more at www.bend-uk.com

Now in its 11th year, the Sportive starts and finishes in the picturesque grounds of Broughton Castle. All routes take riders through the stunning Cotswolds which is one of Britain's largest areas of outstanding natural beauty. The same level of rider support and facilities are included in this year’s registration fee. This represents fantastic value for money. All proceeds will be donated to local and Rotary charities. Find out more and register here .
