The Queen's 90th birthday celebrations Saturday 14 May 2016

The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration held on Saturday 14 May 2016 on the Dairy Ground.
Under a near cloudless sky 40 or so villagers came together with bottles of bubbly and picnics to share and enjoy whilst celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday. The Dairy Ground was festooned with red, white and blue bunting, balloons and flags.
We were pleased to welcome Victoria Prentis, our constituency MP, who thrilled those present with her easy charm and desire to join in all the proceedings. She presented prizes to the fancy dress winners; Isobel and Ben Whitehouse, and Theo and Nell Fletcher who all looked charming in their kings, queens and St. George outfits. Equally resplendent was Mrs. Dorothy Harvey who was presented with a prize for her dressed down version of the Queen.
The Adderbury Village Morris Dancers demonstrated their skills with consummate ease and even managed to enlist the help of Lana Smith, our local Community Police Support Officer, into their side to dance with them.
Some of the questions in the Right Royal Quiz had many people puzzled but we had three prize winners: Rebecca Myram, Mr. and Mrs. McEwan and then a team of seven, namely Kirsten and Tom Parish and Kirsten’s mum and dad, Chris and Wendy Hall and Annabelle MacGregor. All won Waterstone’s book vouchers and the team lead by Kirsten’s parents have kindly donated their prize to the organisers of the village fete.
Parish Councillors distributed commemorative medals to all who wanted them but there are still some medals left. If you would like to claim a medal then contact Lynne Parsons (01295 780649) and any left will be available at the village fete.
All Parish Councillors would like to thank everyone for supporting this fun event.
